Dubbed the "Grand
Dame of Tech Talk" by Wired Magazine, Moira is best known
as the host of Public Radio’s Tech Nation, the sole
nationally-syndicated technology program on public radio.
As a former NASA scientist and engineer, Moira has an in depth
understanding of technology. She has examined every facet
of our lives through its lens.
In over 2,000 interviews conducted during the last decade,
Moira has spoken with the innovators who drive technology,
as well as the everyday people who must cope in the new high-tech
world. Moira has interviewed space pioneers, cyber-novelists,
venture capitalists, genetics researchers, teachers, technophobes,
and business leaders. Popular business guests have included
Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Larry Page of Google, Andy Grove of
Intel, and Steve Ballmer of Microsoft. But, the technology
story goes well beyond the business cycle roller coaster—everyone
plays an essential role.
Moira was also a founding columnist on Knight-Ridder’s
SiliconValley.com, and she is a commentator on life in the
high-tech age. Her insights air internationally in the weekly
segment Five Minutes. Moira also currently chairs the annual
Tech Nation Summit, and she is the editor-in-chief of the
Tech Nation Quarterly.
She was the first woman to earn a PhD in mechanical engineering
from Purdue University, and she holds advanced degrees in
computer science.
