Financial Accounting Standards Update

Kevin Johansen attended the University of Utah and has been with KPMG over 15 years. He recently returned from a rotation through KPMG’s national office where he worked in their SEC group. His responsibilities there included being a liaison between KPMG clients and the SEC to resolve accounting and reporting matters, researching and interpreting technical accounting matters for KPMG clients, and assisting many of KPMG’s largest clients with accounting issues. The clients he served while in New York included Pfizer, Computer Associates, Home Depot, JC Penny, EDS, Accenture, and a host of others.

After his national office rotation, Kevin was made an SEC reviewing partner in KPMG’s Salt Lake City Office. Mr. Johansen is the only SEC reviewing partner in Salt Lake among the big four firms. Mr. Johansen currently serves 18 public companies including Altiris, Franklin Covey, TTM Technologies, NPS Pharmaceuticals, Evans and Sutherland Computer Corporation, and Mrs. Fields Famous Brands. Mr. Johansen’s presentation will include an update of recent SEC developments including a discussion of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the audit of internal controls.
