Barton Smith is currently the Director of Human Resource Operations in the Human Resource Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this position he is responsible for many of the transactional human resource functions of the Church including the recently formed Shared Human Resource Services Section. He has also functioned as the Manager of Employee Benefits for the Church with responsibility for the employee benefits of the organization in the United States.

Prior to coming to work for the Church Bart worked for more than 20 years in the property and casualty industry serving in a variety of executive level positions including President and Vice President of the property and casualty subsidiary of Beneficial Life Insurance Company.
